Hello, I'm Alessandra
I’m a project manager. I’m a parent. I’m an expat living in Florence, Italy.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Italy wasn't part of our long-range plan. Like many international transfers, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The opening months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something steadier.
Why I Built CalmPixelStone
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow travel material. What wasn't available was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance rooted in real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and everyday situations
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Italy goes on, and the learning process continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we find.
